Unfortunately, there is a lot of garbage everywhere. On the streets, in fields, and open dumps everywhere. I saw a woman leave her house with a garbage pail, dump it on the street and return inside. In front of hotels or larger corporation buildings, there might be a person using a stick in an attempt to sweep the garbage into piles each day where it is gathered for the dump. For the most part, it remains where it is. At work, I have to conciously remind myself to stop looking for a recycling area for my soft drink can. On my way back to the hotel, the garbage piles may be on fire. I think this is an attempt to decrease the piles of refuse, however, it just burns a top layer not really incinerating the garbage. Sadly, there are also people digging through the piles of garbage and picking items out for future use.
