ISKCON temple

ISKCON temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna on Hare Krishna Hill.

I went into the large temple first and watched the service.  I was in the front row.  Then we were escorted to a line where you place your hands over a candle collect a bit of air and wash it over your head.  Then you receive a flower and a package with laddu and another type of sweet (I don't know what it is called).

I then went into the smaller temple.  It has 108 blocks spaced apart and you chant for each step (there is a special chant you are supposed to say a minimum of 108 times a day, therefore 108 steps at the temple).  The line winds back and forth until you go up the steps.  After the last step, you ring the bell hanging from the archway.

By the time I got to the bell I had the following memorized:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

There are not many white women around so when we saw each other we said hi.  She is from Germany and has my sense of humour.  We walked around together through the temple and did the chanting together.  Manuela and I are going to stay in touch via email.
